It’s no small secret that I’m a fan of the Beatles. When in doubt, the vast majority of my friends rely on Beatles-themed gifts for my birthday or Chanukah because they know that I have such a love for those four lads from Liverpool. For weeks after the start of the semester, my boyfriend and I had been planning a trip for spring break. Finally, we decided on Disneyland for three days, with the thought of doing some other things in the LA/Anaheim area while we were there. I was talking to someone on Facebook, of all places, when an advertisement on the right hand side of the page caught my eye:

Paul McCartney Live. Buy Your Tickets Now!

That’s right. Sir Paul McCartney, live and in concert, and — as I found when I eagerly clicked the link — playing at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday the 30th and Wednesday the 31st during the same week that we would be in California.

I have always wanted to see Paul McCartney live in concert, it’s been a dream of mine for years. Last Tuesday, my dream finally came true.

It was the summer of 1988, and I was seven years old when I met my first true love. He was sixteen, but that was quite all right; I didn’t mind. He had curly blond hair, big blue eyes, and a smile that could melt any girl’s heart.

20 years later, Saturday night, to be specific, I saw him again for the first time since 1993. He had four friends with him, Donnie, Jordan, Johnathan, and Danny.

That’s right. My first “true love” was Joey McIntyre from New Kids On The Block.
