Monday Comic Quick Pick
Posted by MarronMay 10
Another busy week. It seems like I never get around to doing those things I want to do, like writing comic and book reviews. Well, hopefully I’ll have a lot more time now since I’ve graduated from college. Yep, it was a pretty exciting weekend. You know what else is exciting? Comics! There are so many great comics coming out this week that it was hard to decide what I’m most excited about for this Wendesday. Let’s take a look at what’s coming out, shall we?

5. Birds of Prey #1 – The girls are back in town! Or is that the Birds? I’m so glad they’re bringing Birds of Prey back, this is a series I definitely loved. With writer Gail Simone and artist Ed Benes, this is sure to be an amazing first issue!
4. Flash #2 – When last we left the fastest man alive, he was about to be arrested for the future murder of one of his foes! The investigation into the “Dastardly Death of the Rogues” continues, and with Geoff Johns at the helm, there are certain to be a few twists and surprises! Also, I am absolutely adoring the artwork of Francis Manapul. This is definitely a must-have issue this week!
3. Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1 of 6 – Okay, so there’s been plenty of hype! Bruce Wayne isn’t really dead, he’s just trapped in time. Let’s hope that Bruce’s adventures getting back to the future aren’t as hokey as Steve Roger’s time traveling when Ed Brubaker brought Captain America back. Of course, this is Grant Morrison we’re talking about, so it’s bound to be awesome.
2. Siege #4 – The end is nigh! With a double-sized issue, Siege #4 draws the “Marvel Blockbuster of the Year” to a close. What will become of HAMMER now that Osborn has been outed for what he really is on national television? Who will the Sentry carelessly rip in half next? I’m hoping that these questions and more will be answered with the very last issue of this amazing story.
1. Iron Man Legacy #2 – Hot off the heels of the release of the newest Iron Man movie, Iron Man 2, you might be looking for a good comic featuring everyone’s favorite cool exec with a heart of steel. Well, look no further than Iron Man: Legacy. Oh, sure, Marvel will tell you that Matt Fraction’s new arc in Invincible Iron Man is the place to turn — and with the last issue, I’m not going to argue TOO much — but Iron Man Legacy is the place to be. Written by the amazing Fred Van Lente and penciled by Steve Kurth, this is a tale of Iron Man’s past, before the public knew that Tony Stark and the Golden Avenger were one and the same. Someone has stolen Stark technology and used it for warmongering in the country of Transia, so what’s a CEO to do? Declare war against an entire country as Iron Man, of course! What will happen when Tony finds out that it’s DOOM that’s seemingly behind everything? I can’t wait to find out!

There we have this week’s top picks, but that isn’t the entire list of comics coming out this week by any means. It was so hard to narrow it down to just five, and so here’s a short list of a few other comics that you should definitely look out for this week: Justice League: Generation Lost #1, Superman: War of the Supermen #2, Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis #1, Daredevil: Cage Match, Iron Man 2: Public Identity #3, Iron Man Noir #2, New Avengers: The Finale, Siege: Embedded #4, and Star Trek: Leonard McCoy: Frontier Doctor #2. With so many good comics this week, you’d be crazy not to head out to your local comic book store. Hopefully with my newly-found free time, I’ll be able to write up some long-promised reviews. Until then, have a great comics week!
